Back In Black, Back To Work

Just like Obama through the hourglass, my honeymoon grace period is over.

The baby is just over a month old and I believe we’ve all settled into this new living arrangement nicely.  Change is hard, but when it’s necessary a person can adapt quickly and efficiently.  Oh, of course there’s those 3-4 days straight where the lil’ one’s sleeping arrangement gets all messed up (see: this past weekend) and she wails and wails like a demon banshee and nothing can soothe her, where I’m left rocking her until I nearly fall asleep before she reawakens me with a thunderous cry into the night sky…but, hey.

Bottom line: no more excuses, it’s time to get back to work.  Not day-job work, mind you (I’ve been back at the day job since the week after she was born) but rather back to writing and music.

And work has been waiting on me like a scorned wife–bludgeon in one hand and bills in the other.

Waiting on my return are several projects that need quick attention.  I’m nearly finished with the Ladies and Gentlemen of Horror 2009 story(ies) and bio, which is good.  I also have two short-stories that need wrote for an as-yet-unannounced project.  A poem for a certain anthology from a genre big-wig needs retouched.  I need to break out my dusty dry-erase board and get the details on the rest, I’ve been gone for far too long.

With deadlines looming and the knowledge that they aren’t going to write themselves, I settle back down into writing this week come Hell, high water, loaded diapers, or banshee wailing.

Oh, and I promise to be on here more, as well.  You can hold me to that one.
